Living Shoreline Research

Our Lab, in collaboration with Drs. David Burdick (SMSOE) and Tom Ballestero (CEPS), have been leaders in Living Shoreline project implementation in the state of NH, working closely with our partners at NHDES. With ongoing projects at Cutts Cove and North Mill Pond in Portsmouth, and Wagon Hill Farm in Durham, our multidisciplinary team has been demonstrating efficacy of nature-based designs to restore functional coastal habitats. While there’s much more to learn,  these projects have been fertile ground for innovation, research, and graduate student projects aimed at refining approaches to improve current (and future) living shoreline project success.
