Alex award 2025

Alexandria (Alex) Sangermano, a current Doctoral student in UNH’s Marine Biology Graduate Program, recently completed her Masters of Science at UNH in 2024. Continuing her professional trajectory, she joined the newest cohort of NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management’s Margaret A. Davidson Graduate Fellowship. The Davidson Fellowship emphasizes professional development, mentoring, and innovation while pairing graduate students with one of the 30 National Estuarine Research Reserves (NERRs) across the country. Alex has begun her doctoral research in Marine Biology while working closely with the Jobos Bay NERR in Puerto Rico. She is actively conducting baseline mangrove habitat assessments using in-person field surveying techniques and underwater passive acoustic monitoring. The Davidson Fellowship will support the first two years of Alex’s Doctoral research.
