Jobos Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Moore Lab
In November 2024, Marine Biology Ph.D. student Alexandria Sangermano completed her first field research campaign at Jobos Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Puerto Rico (JBNERR). Alexandria is leading a project in collaboration with the JBNERR and the NOAA Office for Coastal Management to conduct baseline assessments of key mangrove habitats within the reserve. The goals of her first campaign to JBNERR were to select study sites, collect basic environmental data, and deploy sensors that will record underwater ambient light and temperature (HOBO Pendant Data Logger) and the presence of sound producing fish and crustaceans (OceanInstrumentsNZ SoundTrap 400STD). Alexandria will return to JBNERR in early February to collect data at each site and redeploy the acoustic recorders. This research is funded by the NOAA Office for Coastal Management Margaret A. Davidson Fellowship.
