Carl earned his BS in Biological Science at the University of Rhode Island in 2012 and his PhD in Plant Biology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2018. Carl comes to the Garnas Lab after completing a postdoc position at the University of California, San Diego. While his background is in cell and molecular biology, Carl is excited to focus on big-picture scientific questions. At the University of New Hampshire, Carl is researching how changes in tree demography, due to disease in general and Beech Bark Disease specificially, have fundamentally altered the carbon cycle in North American forests.
