PhD, University of Connecticut, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, 2022

BS, State University of New York College at Oneonta, Biology, 2015

Liz’s main interests are ecology, behavior, and entomology. During her BS, she worked with freshwater systems and aided in research on zebra mussels and wood turtles, but insects are her preferred study system. Liz’s PhD focused on tropical termites and their behaviors during interspecific and intraspecific conflicts. She performed fieldwork in Costa Rica and Cameroon and spent 6 months on a Fulbright scholarship in the Czech Republic, working in the lab of a colleague. Liz joined the Garnas lab in February of 2023 and is working in collaboration with the USDA APHIS PPQ biocontrol program on emerald ash borers. She is leading a project across a climate gradient in the midwestern US to determine the longevity of parasitoid populations that have been released.
