Topics in the communication field are applied including greenwashing and sacrificial landscape. Altogether, this essay attempts to show all sides of the argument – understanding the benefits and exposing the cons of the Nine Dragon’s mill located in Rumford, Maine.

“BrewDog Case Study” by Kate Daugherty-Miller

BrewDog, a popular craft beer company, lost its B-Corp certification after reports of poor employee treatment emerged. Although the company promoted itself as socially and environmentally responsible, its workplace culture told a different story. In my case study, I explore BrewDog and similar organizations through the lens of organizational communication, using communication theories to better understand how businesses shape—and are shaped by—the societies around them.

This essay examines the latest rendition of Spider-Man, Miles Morales, his story, and how it notably deviates from the traditional myth of the character. Through first analyzing external factors contributing to Miles’ cinematic universe and then evaluating the last, but not final, movie in his trilogy, this essay aims to determine the significance of Miles’ story for both the character of Spider-Man and in relation to society.

“Child Labor Advocacy Through the Years” by Emma Naggar

This essay looks at how photography has been used to fight against child labor, starting with Lewis Hine’s powerful images that helped change laws in the early 1900s. Today, photographers like Claudia Berger and Lisa Kristine use similar methods to show the harsh realities of child labor around the world. But with so much information online and fake news, it’s harder to get people to care the way they did in the past.

“Roll the Film; Play the Music” by Lauren Sutton

This paper was written to analyze how music has its own power of rhetoric, especially in film. The paper discusses the beginning of music in film, to its composition and editing processes. Using particular films composed by Hans Zimmer, the power and messaging of music is showcased. This paper informs readers on music’s almost unnoticed impact on film and how it affects viewers and created an emotional draw for a film.

By relating the concepts to real-world cases, we can see how these concepts are played out in the real world.
