Dairy and Seafood (DAS) Study

About the DAS Study

Dairy and seafood are nutrient dense foods that are recommended as part of a healthy diet. Due to a combination of personal and environmental factors, most individuals are not meeting the recommended intake amounts. It is also unclear how the determinants of intake vary by rural and resource-limited communities including in New Hampshire (NH). To address this knowledge gap, the overall objective of the Dairy And Seafood (DAS) Study is to identify the barriers and motivators of dairy and seafood consumption among adult NH residents.

To collect data we will speak to NH community members using interview-administered surveys and focus groups.

We anticipate that this project will have impacts on NH seafood and dairy industries by informing the tailoring of dietary and health messaging (e.g., nutrition education, media campaigns, etc.) that target seafood and dairy.

This study is supported by a grant from the NH Agricultural Experiment Station (NHAES).
