Dr. Katherine Adler
Co President (2025-2026), Social Events Chair (2024-2026)
Katherine (Katie) Adler is an ocean engineering postdoctoral research associate. She specializes in experimental fluid mechanics and is interested in using innovative measurement techniques to study the physical mechanisms impacting the fate and transport of key constituents in the environment, such as through erosion, hyporheic exchange, and air-water gas transfer. Her current work focuses on the fluid-structure interactions and vortex dynamics around sand ripples, which are ubiquitous in sandy coastal environments and play a role in large-scale beach evolution. She enjoys hiking and running.
Dr. Matthew Ferby
Co President (2025-2026)
Matthew Ferby is currently a Postdoctoral Innovation Scholar in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New Hampshire. He started at UNH in 2024 and originally served as the orientation chair on the executive committee of the UNH PDA. His research seeks to answer the question, “are conventional and advanced technologies robust enough to achieve efficient treatment of and resource recovery from complexing wastewater compositions”? Outside of his professional duties, he loves amusement parks, food, and movies! He received his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering (2024) from Washington University in St. Louis, M.S. in Civil Engineering (2019) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and B.S. in Civil Engineering (2017) from North Carolina A&T State University.
Dr. Masoumeh Gharaati
Communications Chair (2025-2026)
Masoumeh Gharaati is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Program of Integrated Applied Mathematics and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Hampshire. She earned her Ph.D. in 2023 from the University of Houston, where she specialized in computational fluid dynamics and turbulence modeling for renewable energy applications. Her research focuses on developing and applying numerical simulation techniques to study complex turbulent flow dynamics in wind turbines and wake interactions within wind farms. Outside of her academic work, she enjoys running, hiking, and reading.
Dr. Xueting Sun
Responsible Conduct of Research Representative (2025-2026)
Xueting Sun is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of New Hampshire in 2024. Her research primarily focuses on disability policy and the employment of people with disabilities. Outside of her academic work, she enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and being with her family.
Dr. Aakriti Garg
Orientation Chair (2025-2026)
Aakriti Garg is a chemical biologist from India, currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Chemistry at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), where she joined in March 2025. She completed her Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from NIPER Kolkata in April 2024. Prior to her doctoral studies, she earned a Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2017. Her research focuses on the development of fluorescence probes for diverse biological imaging applications, combining principles of chemistry and biology to study complex cellular processes. Outside the lab, Aakriti enjoys traveling, learning new languages, and exploring photography.
Dr. Narinder Singh
International Affairs Chair (2025-2026)
Narinder Singh is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Program in Integrated Applied Mathematics and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Hampshire (UNH). After receiving his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, India, he joined UNH in July 2024. His research focuses on developing hybrid analytical–numerical techniques to predict the multiscale fluid mechanics of offshore wind farms. Outside of research, Narinder enjoys hiking and traveling.
