Director: Dr. Ngozi Enelamah
Dr. Ngozi Victoria Enelamah is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at the College of Health and Human Services, University of New Hampshire. Her research focuses on mental health disparities among children and youth of sub-Saharan African origin, immigrant and refugee, and Black US-born families. Dr Enelamah leverages her interdisciplinary background, training, and years of experience in the development sector to advance evidence-based, integrated, multi-system, multi-sector collaborations toward protective processes that address risks and facilitate resilience in families. Her training includes an undergraduate degree in Pharmacy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; an MBA from the University of Lagos; an Ed.M. from Harvard University; and an MSW and Ph.D. from Boston College.
Research Assistants
Alice Riiska is a Master of Social Work Student at the University of New Hampshire with a strong commitment to mental health, rehabilitation, and social justice. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Wheaton College in 2023, where she also studied Psychology, Italian Studies, and Hispanic Studies. Her academic interests center on criminal thinking, deviance and social control, and the experiences of stigmatized populations. For her undergraduate thesis, Alice explored the social structures and cultural dynamics within women’s prisons, developing grounded theory to better understand incarcerated women’s lived experiences. Alice currently interns in the mental health department at the New Hampshire State Prison and works as a Youth Counselor at Mount Prospect Academy in Hampton, NH. She previously interned at Seacoast Learning Collaborative in the high school department, supporting at-risk youth through academic and behavioral interventions. Across her work, Alice strives to integrate research, advocacy, and clinical practice to promote rehabilitation, equity, and systemic change.
Sana Aziz is a healthcare professional originally from Pakistan, raised in Dubai and Manchester, and now pursuing a Master of Social Work at UNH. She holds a bachelor's degree in healthcare management with a concentration in Global Perspectives from Southern New Hampshire University. With experience spanning pharmacy operations, administrative support, and clinical mental health roles, Sana brings a strong foundation in patient-centered care and healthcare systems to the PIRCAR lab. Over the past three years, her work in mental health has deepened her commitment to behavioral health and social justice. Dedicated, detail-oriented, and skilled in high-pressure environments, Sana is passionate about advancing equitable, compassionate care for diverse communities.
