Dr. Susanne Liebner
Assistant Professor at GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences

I am an Assistant Professor studying microbial climate feedbacks. As a PhD and Postdoc I have worked mainly on methane oxidation in Arctic, Subarctic and alpine wetlands combining DNA- and RNA-based molecular approaches with geochemistry and incubation studies. I am now leading a Young Researchers Group focusing mainly on deep(er) permafrost thaw, specifically the response of microbial communities upon thaw on various time-scales. Another research focus is anaerobic methane oxidation in thawing subaquatic permafrost.
