I am a postdoctoral scientist in the Center for Ecosystem Science and Society at Northern Arizona University. My research focuses on how species traits and interactions shape community structure and ecosystem function.

My research focused on permafrost soils investigates the role of plant-fungal interactions in carbon and nitrogen cycling and landscape patterns of vegetation change. I use natural abundance and enriched tracer isotopes to understand plant ecophysiology in relation to mycobiont colonization and community structure. I use molecular tools to characterize fungal communities in relation to edaphic factors and vegetation composition across a range of spatial scales.
