Northeast Snow Survey (NESS) Feasibility Study Fall 2025 Update

The Northeast Snow Survey (NESS) Feasibility Study team has had a busy summer and fall in 2025. In June, Liz Burakowski (UNH) presented NESS project updates at the 81st Eastern Snow Conference held at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. University of Vermont recent graduate Anna Grunes completed her Masters in Environmental Engineering and continued working with NESS over the summer on the network spatial design. Congratulations, Anna! Josh Beneš (UVM) represented NESS at the International Mountain Conference in Innsbruck, Austria in September and will be hosting a session on mountain monitoring across elevational gradients in the northeastern United States at the Lake Champlain Research Conference. If you’re headed to the Forest Ecosystem Monitoring Conference (FEMC) this week, be sure to check out Georgia Murray’s (AMC) poster on Appalachian Mountain Club snow monitoring.
