What does FSAE stand for and what is it?
FSAE is the acronym for Formula SAE, a program hosted and organized by SAE International. FSAE is one of the Collegiate Design Series (CDS) events that challeges undergraduate and graduate students to, "conceive, design, fabricate, develop, and compete with small, formula-style vehicles," (https://www.sae.org/students).
What engine is in the car now?
As of Fall 2021, the KTM 450 SX-F 2016 is being used.
Do you have to be a senior to join?
No, any UNH student can join the team, but seniors are the primary leads and designers because they're also getting graded on produced work. UNH Precision Racing is a student project team that encourages students to step out of their comfort zone and learn something new, whether that be, how to write a grant, how to reach out to vendors, or how to create a 3D model.
How much does it cost to register a team?
Occassionally the cost to register a team changes, but in the 2022-2023 competition year, the cost is $2,600 USD with a cap of 120 teams.
Where do you race and compete?
When we're testing our vehicle before competition, we try to request access to one of the parking lots on campus or a local track. Our competition is in Brooklyn, Michigan during the month of May.
