My project focuses on developing varieties of the quinoa relative pitseed goosefoot (Chenopodium berlandieri) that will be locally adapted and agriculturally viable for production in the northeast. These new crop varieties will share many beneficial domestication traits with quinoa, such as large seeds and compact plant habit, while retaining important adaptation traits such as disease resistance.
