The GeoSpatial Support Center (GSC) on the UNH campus is dedicated to bringing the tools of geospatial analysis to faculty, staff, students, and the general public. The Center is funded jointly between the UNH Dimond Library and NHView with additional support from other NHView partners including Cooperative Extension and GRANIT. The Center is housed in Dimond Library and provides 2 interns to answer questions and provide support for the use of geospatial technologies. User surveys have shown that the Center has increased awareness of geospatial technologies across the entire campus.
This is an educational tutorial designed for 5th grade and higher that introduces the concepts and applications of remotely sensed imagery with examples that are specifically for New Hampshire. The tutorial consists of an 18 page booklet (pdf), an answer sheet for the self-quiz, and two posters.
A Lesson Plan about forests based on the Earth Observation Day 2020 Earth Factory Poster developed for Middle School teachers. The lesson plan is divided into 4 parts: an Overview, an Introduction, Forests from Below, and Forests from Above. This tutorial has 7 lectures and 3 exercises that introduce the viewer how to think spatially. The material is appropriate for life long learners high school and beyond. Spatial thinking is critical in all aspects of living and especially in the STEM disciplines. Becoming aware of how much we think spatially is the first step to improving our ability to do so. There are three exercises that go along with the lectures to give the viewer hands-on experience with the science of where.
