Butler-headshot

I graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2011 with a B.S. in Zoology and minors in animal behavior and wildlife conservation biology. I received a M.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from Clemson University in 2019, where my thesis research focused on the ecology and conservation of swift foxes in Montana.

My research is focused on answering questions related to the spatial, population, and community ecology of small carnivores, and how the answers to these questions can be used to guide habitat and population management. I take the approach of having a strong conceptual framework so that research findings are transferrable across systems and informative to managers in a rapidly changing world. Currently, I am evaluating different methods for estimating small carnivore abundance and investigating how human disturbance influences the abundance of these species in New Hampshire.
