To strengthen my understanding of the relationship among the different fields within my IDS major, there are a few things I could do to help educate myself. One such thing is to look into what exactly sports psychologists do, what their daily occupational life could look like, what tasks they find themselves working on, how they incorporate what they know and apply that knowledge into their occupations. This could help me understand the reality of what these combined disciplinaries could look like and how they work collaboratively when in practice. I have noticed in the library there is a surprising amount of books on this subject and I have taken a book out in the past and skimmed through it. It certainly had what I was looking for so perhaps I can get that book again and even look at the other books I had seen there. By being able to read some of the books I can further my understanding in the educational sense. I believe I already have a pretty well understanding of the relationship among the various fields in my IDS major although it would only benefit me to learn more. There are definitely some subjects I would like to learn more in depth about which I hope to look into while in graduate school. One such subject is how drugs and substance can affect an athletes performance, I have done a project on the effect of painkillers on athletes in the past although I would like to see how recreational substances can either hinder or enhance an athletes performance. I am taking a class on drug behavior in the spring and I quite look forward to this class.
