New Hampshire plays a unique and important role in the nomination of the U.S. presidential candidates due to its &#8220;First in the Nation Primary&#8221;. \u00a0Building on this role, the New Hampshire Humanities Collaborative and UNH College of Liberal Arts offered\u00a0an active-learning based Mock &#8220;Nominating Convention&#8221;in November 2019. \u00a0Students from several campuses came\u00a0together at UNH in Durham and represented 50 state delegations (plus D.C., Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, and the Virgin Islands). \u00a0In the morning session, students focused on drafting the party platform. In the afternoon, drawing on polling data and the insight of analysis, students predicted the distribution of delegates for their state to\u00a0determine the presidential nominee.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.usnh.edu\/hugemanities\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/223\/2023\/11\/democracy_now.png\" alt=\"democracy_now\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"314\" width=\"1200\" title=\"democracy_now\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t<h3>UNH and the Community College System of New Hampshire coordinated a non-partisan showcase on concepts of democracy:<\/h3>\n\t<p>In order to deepen perception of the ways that democracy is embedded\u00a0in our social, cultural, political, and artistic lives, &#8220;Democracy Now! An Exploration of Democracy&#8221; was a one-night event based around open dialogues on democracy. Open to the public, this event encouraged diversity of voices and perspectives in order to engage, explore and empower civic roles in communities.<\/p>\n<p>Read more about it in\u00a0<a title=\"\"
