In this preliminary episode of the Student Pulse Lauren and Marcus delve into the first day of a new semester, the importance of community college, and the transfer process from community college to a larger state school.
Episode 2-Back on Your Feet
The second episode of the Student Pulse sees Marcus detail his time in culinary school, Lauren’s Did You Know? debuts, and a discussion of the importance of taking the first steps.
Episode 3: A Lesson in Civility
The third episode of the Student Pulse discusses civility in all facets as Lauren discusses her work with the Civil Discourse Lab and the Treat Fellowship at UNH, Marcus gives Facts of The Day, and guestPauline Hawkins finds common ground among ideologies.
Episode 4: The College Community
Episode four of the podcast talks about starting new, and about finding groups of peers. Lauren details the ins and outs of life as a new transfer student along with a Halloween themed did you know, while Marcus talks about Portsmouth events.
Episode 5: Free Speech
In this politically charged episode, Lauren and Marcus discuss what free speech means in the modern classroom, along with how the definition has changed. The second half discusses the political landscape at both Great Bay and UNH.
Episode 6: The Humanities and Politics
In this episode the UNH mock convention is discussed, along with the ramifications of the current political landscape, and its effect on the college landscape. This week’s Did You Know segment deals with political facts, and the upcoming elections.
Episode 7: Personal Choices and Crossroads
Changes are examined, as the theme of this episode focuses on the life changes that brought Marcus and Lauren to the threshold of first Great Bay, as well as discussing the next step to UNH. The importance of positive action and taking that first step are examined in this episode.
Episode 8: Final Thoughts of the Year
This last episode of the year catches up with Marcus and Lauren as the takeaways and lessons from 2019 are discussed and compared, as well as examining the importance of the Humanities during the various holidays.
