SEEN - SNAP Enrollment and Enhancement of Nutrition

The Dao Research Lab is investigating SNAP enrollment, nutrition, and chronic disease in New Hampshire residents.

What does participation involve?

During the study visit:

  • Questionnaires
    • You will complete several paper questionnaires during the study visit. You will be asked about health and nutrition topics such as eating behaviors, diet, and physical activity. You will also be asked about food security and attitudes towards food assistance programs
  • Nutritional Status Assessment
    • We will assess dermal carotenoids as a biomarker of fruit and vegetable intake via Veggie Meter

  • Health Screen Assessment
    • Duplicate measures of weight, height, waist circumference, hp circumference, and blood pressure will be measure
  • Point of Care Assessment 
    • Blood sample from a finger prick will be taken to measure HbA1c and lipid panel

Inclusion Criteria: (1) aged 18 years or older, (2) NH resident, (3) with sufficient English proficiency, and (4) identify as Gather Pantry Market members/shop at the Gather Pantry Market
