The Dao Research Lab at the University of New Hampshire is seeking a part-time study nurse, EMT, or phlebotomist for an ongoing research project in the lab.
Adjunct Staff position.
$25/hour, up to 10 hours/week.
Immediate supervisor: Maria Carlota Dao, Department of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems
Proposed start: May 2022 – end date TBD
Description of tasks:
The study nurse, EMT, or phlebotomist will perform blood draws under fasting conditions and as part of a mixed-meal tolerance test (MMTT) protocol, which includes insertion of intravenous catheters. The person hired for this position will work closely with the study coordinator in scheduling study sessions at both the Durham and Manchester UNH campuses.
Responsibilities:
- Attend study visits at both UNH Durham and Manchester study sites
- Insert intra-venous catheters and conduct approximately 5 blood samples per participant during study sessions
- Remain on-site for the duration of study visits
- Packaging and transporting participant biospecimens to research and diagnostic labs
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Training in intra-venous catheter insertion and blood sampling procedures
- Certified in CPR and First Aid
Preferred:
- Fluency in Spanish and English
- Experience with clinical assessments (blood pressure, weight, height)
