Sarah Reny
MS Student, Natural Resources & the Environment

Sarah is a 2020 graduate of the University of New Hampshire Manchester (UNHM) with her B.A. in Biological Sciences.  Sarah shifted from a healthcare career track to the environmental sciences during her junior year of her undergraduate program. She was a student ambassador for the office of admissions and a mentor for transfer-students while attending UNHM. She became a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success through the University of New Hampshire at Manchester chapter upon graduation. Sarah interned at Vanasse Hangen Brustlin (VHB) as a water resources intern during the summer of 2021. She conducted endangered and threatened turtle species monitoring, soil and erosion control inspections, wetland delineations, and invasive species vegetation monitoring.  Additionally, she joined GIS collaboration projects for phosphorus control plans, municipal best management practices for storm water control, and chloride watershed mapping. Sarah is currently a master’s student at UNH in the BASAL lab. Her thesis focuses on estimating forestry biometrics using unmanned aerial system light detection and ranging (UAS-Lidar) technology.

Sarah is a native New Hampshire resident. She is passionate about conserving and sustaining the natural environment of the state for future generations to enjoy. Sarah enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her dog. She is looking forward to pursuing a career that combines remote sensing and natural resource management to better monitor, advise, and improve the environment.
