Research Biography
Benjamin T. Fraser is a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment's Basic and Applied Spatial Analysis Lab (BASAL) working with Dr. Congalton.
Professional Biography
Benjamin T. Fraser received his B.S. in Wildlife and Conservation Biology from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) in 2015. In conjunction with this degree he received a minor in German Language. During his undergraduate years he participated as a technician in several research projects including the New Hampshire moose mortality project and New Hampshire statewide deer wintering yard reassessment. He continued at UNH for his M.S. in Natural Resources with Dr. Russell G. Congalton which was completed in 2017. His thesis research evaluated the potential of Unmanned Aerial Systems to collect thematic map accuracy assessment reference data in New England Forests. This research generated two research articles and one book chapter. Benjamin completed his PhD with Dr. Congalton in 2021. During this degree program he earned a Graduate Certificate in Geospatial Sciences. For his dissertation, Ben continued his research into UAS mapping of New England forests. This project has since incorporated the supervision of several summers of undergraduate research and fellowships.
