Isaac earned his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Crop Science) with a Second Class Honors (Upper Division) at the University of Ghana in 2007. At the undergraduate level, he worked on the ‘Efficacy of Lambda Cyhalothrin (Engeo 247 SC) against arthropod pests of tomato (Solanum lycopersicun) for his B.S. Dissertation. After graduation, Isaac continued his research activities as a Research/Teaching Assistant (also national service) at the Forest and Horticultural Crops Research Centre, Kade, College of Basic and Applied Sciences, University of Ghana, Legon. The ultimate goal of his research during this period was to develop sustainable management practices against insect pests of forest and horticultural crops through insect monitoring, diversity studies and application of environmentally-friendly management options. He established weaver ant (Oecophylla longinoda) colonies in citrus orchard for use as a biological control against citrus pests.

He joined a Master’s program in Entomology at the West African Sub-Regional Centre of the African Regional Postgraduate Program in Insect Science (ARPPIS), University of Ghana after his national service. His thesis was on “evaluating the potential of weaver ant, Oecophylla longinoda, Latreille (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in the management of fruit flies in citrus plantation”. He was appointed as a Senior Research Assistant at Forest and Horticultural Crops Research Centre, Kade, College of Basic and Applied Sciences, University of Ghana, Legon immediately after his M.S. graduation in 2010. As a Senior Research Assistant, he evaluated the efficacy of stop mating block (ME) against fruit flies in the citrus orchard for use in trapping/ monitoring and management of Bactrocera species in Ghana.

Before joining Agroecology Lab at University of New Hampshire as a PhD student, he was a Research Entomologist at Council for Scientific and Industrial Research-Oil Palm Research Institute, Coconut Research Program, Sekondi, Ghana, working on integrated production and pest management of coconut pests. Isaac's current research topic is on optimizing perennial legumes mixes to enhance populations of beneficial insects (pollinators and natural enemies) in crop forage systems.
