Our research focuses on the diversity, distribution, and community dynamics of small mammals across space and over time. We are particularly interested in the strength of wildlife-habitat associations and in the response of species and communities to land-use practices and climate change. Current research projects are located in the Great Basin of western North America, northern New England, and arctic Alaska. Topics include assessing faunal response to environmental change over the past century, documenting the structure of biodiversity along habitat gradients, evaluating resource partitioning over space and time, and quantifying the functional role of small mammals and their impacts on ecosystem function.
